Free shredding is a misconception. Some providers may offer you the cost savings, but they do so at the expense of your security, by cutting corners and exposing your confidential information. At Shred-it, we offer a Secure Chain of Custody with our services, from start to finish. So you know you’re always protected.

After the paper has been securely shredded, the confetti-sized pieces are bundled and recycled into paper products.

For a recurring paper shredding service, pricing is customized based on your preferences. Criteria that are considered when establishing pricing include service frequency, paper volume, number of Freedom Forward bins, and geographical location. For a one-time paper shredding service, there is a one-time fee based on the volume of items to be shred, and the size or type of box they are in. Minimum fees apply and vary by geographical location.

We can shred just about anything, but we mostly shred paper. And instead of using conventional strip-cut shredders, we use cross-cut shredding technology that can reduce the paper to fine, confetti-like pieces. Our unique technology can even destroy other materials like fabric, plastic, electronics and metals. Yes, that means CDs, USB drives, videotapes, DVDs and even casino chips.

Document volume
The more documents you need to shred, the higher the cost. Shredding services often charge based on the weight, bin size, or volume of documents. Bulk shredding can sometimes offer significant discounts, making it more affordable for larger quantities.

Shredding method
Onsite shredding, where documents are shredded at your location, tends to cost more due to the added convenience and security. In contrast, offsite shredding—where documents are transported to a secure facility for processing—is typically more cost-effective.

Frequency of service
Establishing a regular shredding schedule (e.g. weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly) can reduce overall costs compared to one-time shredding services. With recurring services, you can enjoy predictable costs and greater efficiency.

Location
Shredding prices can vary based on geographic location. Services in urban areas may be less expensive, while those in rural or remote locations may incur higher transportation and service fees due to distance.

Paper weight and size
Thicker, heavier paper or oversized documents may require specialized equipment or additional time for shredding, which can increase costs. These types of materials often need more intensive processing.

Additional services
Optional services such as document sorting, certification of destruction, or onsite supervision can add to the total costof shredding. If you require these added services, they will be reflected in the overall price.
